Shoshone Falls, near Twin Falls, Idaho – worth adding to your bucket list
Shoshone falls is a spectacular series of waterfalls on the Snake River. Just a few miles from Twin Falls in the heart of farm country in southern Idaho, these falls offer constantly changing scenery. Bring a couple of memory cards and plenty of battery power, because you’ll never tire of snapping photos!

Along with the constantly changing light, shadows and hidden surprises, like the little lizard that sat and posed for us a couple of years ago, Shoshone Falls offers endless photographic delights.
Shoshone falls park is easy to access by vehicle. Turn off is from the highway as it comes into Twin Falls, Idaho from the west.
Coming off the I 84, exit on US-93 S toward Twin Falls. The drive takes you toward the bridge over the awe-inspiring Snake River canyon.
Base Jumping in Broad Daylight?
The Snake River canyon is so deep that base jumpers regularly use it for parachuting into the canyon. While base jumping is discouraged in many public places, it is actually encouraged, here, and is a very popular draw.
The attractive and tidy town of Twin Falls is right across the bridge. Just about a short distance past the bridge is the turn off to the left on Bridgeview Boulevard. There are a few family restaurants and a Starbucks right after the turn, making it easy to grab some coffee or refreshments en route.
Follow Bridgeview for a half mile and turn right onto E 4100 N. Be prepared to turn left almost immediately on Locust St. N. In one mile, turn right on Falls Road, also known as E 4000 N. In just a bit under three miles, turn left on Champlin Road, N3300 E.
Staying on Champlin Road will take you right down the very windy road to the main lookout. There are picnic sites scattered along the way, as well as trails and smaller viewpoints to explore.
Stay Left – but if you go right, you won’t be sad!
You can make one wrong turn as your get close to Shoshone Falls Park, if you accidentally make a right on Dierkes Road. All is not lost, because it goes to a picturesque little lake and park with picnic sites, just a short distance from the fork.
At the Shoshone Falls lowest parking lot, if you’re lucky enough to get a parking spot, you can take in the viewpoint, experience the rainbows and mist closeup, if the water is high, or walk the easy trails along the length of the site.
For the more adventuresome, there are some steep trails going up to the top, where you can explore along the ridge of the canyon.
Shoshone falls is a beautiful place to visit at any time of year. It’s amazing to see when it’s frozen!
Be aware that if there is snow, it might not be possible to drive down.
